Sustainable Treehouse Design

Imagine you are an outback explorer who has just run out of food but has come across a wooded area with a solid-looking tree to build a treehouse on! You decide to stay here for a week but you must be careful to look after the natural ecosystem while you are here.

Think about:

How will you build a shelter sustainably?
How will you get water?
What will you eat?
How will you cook?
How will you look after the creatures around you?
How could you use the natural energy sources around you?
Design your treehouse and explain how you will live sustainable (and safely) there for a week.

Sustainable Treehouse Design

Imagine that you and your friends are explorers in a huge forest. Suddenly, you come across a magical sight: the best treehouse ever!

Map out your version of a treehouse that you think is ‘the best ever’ and label its special features. You could make a digital collage to show what you would need to live there for a week or more. How would you store food and water? Where would you sleep?

Use recycled materials to build your treehouse! Think about: How could you make ladders and steps? How will you stay dry and safe? How will you look after the natural environment around your treehouse while you build and live there?
